7 Deadly Satisfactions

A 7 week group cohort for folks who've struggled under purity culture, and want to joyfully dig the worm of patriarchy out of their brains and take back their whole selves.

Welcome to the Underworld! Where we choose to live deliciously.

We're going to take the 7 deadly sins one by one, lay them on the table, and feast. This is shadow-work designed to free up the parts of us that are still hidden behind old bullshit patriarchal notions of perfectionism and take back our whole selves. Because the only actually deathly sin...is shame. Let's dig it out.

Do these sound familiar?

  • Carving out time to rest, then being unable to rest because you feel like you should be doing something productive
  • You earn money, but never seem to be able to get past a certain threshold
  • Accepting compliments without refuting them feels like chewing on aluninum foil
  • Feeling guilty anytime you eat more than you meant to
  • You know you should feel your anger but have no idea how to do that without burning the world down

I could go on, but I think you get the point. Imagine being able to not only accept your "flaws", but absolutely luxuriate in them!

If all the energy you use to self-police was freed up,

What could you do with it?

What you can expect:

  • Live classes on Sunday evenings, 5pm EST (always recorded, replay always available)
  • A delectable weekly mission for the 7 days ahead, if you choose to accept it
  • Guided exercises, thoughtful journal prompts, and Q & A
  • A sustainably paced, easily digestible process designed to fit into your life
  • Online community for sharing insights, and finding new buddies if you're into that kind of thing

Purity culture tells us that ascension is desireable:

  • Rise above it
  • Take the higher road
  • Tune into your higher self

Meanwhile, down on planet Earth, we're taught that anything corporeal, bodily, and wordly is base. Less than. Sinful.

Respectfully, fuck ascension.

We're going DOWN. We're getting into our bodies. We're getting into the soil of ourselves. We're going to make friends with all the parts of us that got buried, hidden, and locked away just so we could feel safe.

We're flipping patriarchal purity culture on its ass and reclaiming our right to be our whole selves. This playful, witchy container is for both the woo-inclined and the woo-curious.

Rachel Strickland
Rachel Strickland

Rachel Strickland is an interdisciplinary performance artist, writer, creative mentor, and second generation witch (that we know of).

Classically trained in ballet since the age of three, she studied creative writing and contemporary dance at UNC Asheville, going on to study belly dance, West African dance, and butoh. Rachel began her bootstraps study of circus arts in 2007 while supporting herself as a dancer in several local fusion companies in San Francisco, moving to Seattle to cut her teeth on underground stages and national tours. She developed a unique style and innovative approach to aerial hoop which brought her international recognition, and she has coached, performed, and choreographed on four continents.

Her performance work combines aerial, dance, storytelling, and spectacle to create original works for stage and installation. To unearth aspects of the self which are buried, suppressed, and mutilated by the sanction of outside influences is both her subject matter and the intended effect on the viewer.

As a creative mentor, she’s been called “the patron saint of ambitious creatives”, a “creative midwife”, and her personal favorite, “mother of monsters.” Rachel has been mentoring artists to unearth sustainable, authentic creative practices since 2014 and has personally mentored over 400 artists in a 1:1 capacity.

She is passionate about the reclamation of autonomic personal agency, the rejection of hyper-independence, and the brave, bold creation of whatever the fuck you want to create. She is absolutely certain that the intersection of magic and art is her place to do that work from.

She’s made her home in the swamps of coastal South Carolina where the pulse of the land inspires both her artwork and her teachings.
