Overcoming the Imposter

Somatic witchcraft to cut your gremlins off at the source

Wednesday, July 8th 12pm-1pm EST

$47

Give me one hour, and I will give you the most effective tool I've ever found for navigating imposter syndrome, social anxiety, and other gremlins. It's Somatic Witchcraft- using the power of the body's memories to short-circuit cyclical thinking and enjoy those moments you worked so hard to make happen. This is a powerful tool you can use anytime, anywhere to stop arguing with your thoughts and take back the moment.

Somatic Witchcraft is highly effective for:

  • performances
  • public speaking
  • presentations
  • negotiations
  • any time you want to be "on" in a high pressure environment

This 60 minute specialty workshop is born out of the 9 years and 400+ artists I've mentored since 2017. It takes less than an hour to learn, and 3-5 minutes to practice.

What pisses me off about gremlins (especially imposter syndrome) is that they do not respond to logic. We already know most of this shit was born out of harmful patriarchal structures, heteronormitivity, extractive capitalism, and white supremacy. We can understand WHY they are there easily. We can reject it intellectually. And yet...we still feel like shit in the exact moments we really need to feel ON. Understanding the origin story of gremlins does not prevent them from chewing on us.

It never seems to matter how much proof you show them that you are capable, how many accolades you have achieved, or all the good work you have done before- they are maddening like that. Arguing with them just keeps you locked in your mind, running on a hamster wheel and desperately trying to remember what was like to feel confident.

It is not a bad thing to feel your gremlins- they are part of you. But sometimes we want to actually enjoy a performance, a residency, a showing, without the experience feeling hijacked because we were struggling not to feel like crap the whole time.

Sound familiar?

It's only been over the past year that I've stumbled on something that works better than any other antidote I've ever seen. It works with anxiety, it works with imposter syndrome, and I cannot wait to share it with you. It is so absurdly simple and effective that I'm annoyed it took me this long to discover it. It's Somatic Witchcraft.

You don't need any extra supplies, skills, or accoutrements- you have everything you need already to use this technique anywhere, any time the gremlins are hollering too loudly. Remember- they bark louder the closer you get to the good stuff. Don't let them drive the van; invite a better copilot to sit up front with you. I will show you how.

We go live on July 8th and the replay will be uploaded here for you to view as many times as you wish.

Rachel Strickland
Rachel Strickland

Rachel Strickland is an interdisciplinary performance artist, writer, creative mentor, and second generation witch (that we know of).

Classically trained in ballet since the age of three, she studied creative writing and contemporary dance at UNC Asheville, going on to study belly dance, West African dance, and butoh. Rachel began her bootstraps study of circus arts in 2007 while supporting herself as a dancer in several local fusion companies in San Francisco, moving to Seattle to cut her teeth on underground stages and national tours. She developed a unique style and innovative approach to aerial hoop which brought her international recognition, and she has coached, performed, and choreographed on four continents.

Her performance work combines aerial, dance, storytelling, and spectacle to create original works for stage and installation. To unearth aspects of the self which are buried, suppressed, and mutilated by the sanction of outside influences is both her subject matter and the intended effect on the viewer.

As a creative mentor, she’s been called “the patron saint of ambitious creatives”, a “creative midwife”, and her personal favorite, “mother of monsters.” Rachel has been mentoring artists to unearth sustainable, authentic creative practices since 2014 and has personally mentored over 400 artists in a 1:1 capacity.

She is passionate about the reclamation of autonomic personal agency, the rejection of hyper-independence, and the brave, bold creation of whatever the fuck you want to create. She is absolutely certain that the intersection of magic and art is her place to do that work from.

She’s made her home in the swamps of coastal South Carolina where the pulse of the land inspires both her artwork and her teachings.
